Snake bite victim in Selangor receives RM2,000 aid


KLANG: A snake bite victim Wednesday received RM2,000 as aid from the Wild Animal Attack Victim Aid Fund (TSBB) from the Selangor Welfare Department.
The victim, Muhamad Rafie Jamhari, 40 received a cheque for the amount from the department's director Nik Omar Nik Ab Rahman at his residence in Persiaran Hamzah Alang, Meru near here.
Muhamad Rafie, who was bitten by a cobra on the toe on June 28 at his house, got to know about the fund from a friend working at an elected representative's office.
Meanwhile, Nik Omar said many were not aware of the fund which was launched on Nov 30 in 2007 and that Muhamad Rafie was the first recipient in Selangor.
TSBB was set up to ease the financial burden of victims of wild animal attacks,' To get the aid, members of the public need to fill up an application form available at the nearest district welfare office and attach a report from the medical officer which must be endorsed by the Wild Life and National Parks Department.
