JOHOR BARU: A security guard was sent to the gallows by a High Court here Wednesday for the murder of 16-year-old girl.
D. Kalaiselvan, 47, was found guilty of murdering Nur Rahayu Qomarodin at the Sungai Masai oil palm plantation in Jalan Masai-Kong Kong, Masai, between 2.30am and 2.50am on June 18, last year.
He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries a mandatory death sentence.
The prosecution had proven a prima facie case in Nov 30 this year and Justice Datuk Abd Halim Aman ordered the accused to file his defence.
The judge found that Kalaiselvan's defence statement was full of doubt and said the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubt over the prosecution's case.
Deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Iskandar Ahmad prosecuted the case while Kalaiselvan was represented by laywer Mohd Zahar Ngah.
