Family might be the next target

Wife of murdered PRO fears her family is next

JOHOR BARU: The wife of a murdered public relations officer is worried that her family might be the next target of the attackers.
Maria Hussein, 42, said she was unaware whether her husband Abbas Abu Bakar (pic), 45, had problems at his office or elsewhere.
This is because he never talked about his work to his family and kept most things to himself.
“I do not know why someone would want to take away the man that I loved,” she told reporters at their house here yesterday.
On Sunday, Abbas was attacked by three parang-wielding masked men while he was having teh tarik alone at a restaurant located at Taman Putri Wangsa at 2am.
Maria said she wanted swift justice against the attackers.
“Those who did this are not humans and I am afraid that my three children or I may be their next target.
“I do not know if my husband offended anyone before and even if he did, they should not have killed him,” she said.
Maria said she was also disappointed with those at the restaurant for not coming to Abbas’ aid during the attack.
Johor Baru (South) deputy OCPD Supt Abdul Samad Salleh urged the family to lodge a police report if they have received any threat.
He added that the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Supt Abdul Samad declined to elaborate on the possible reasons for the attack, and urged those with information to contact the police hotline at 07-221-2999 or lodge a report at the nearest police station.
