Sodomy II: Anwar not guilty

Monday January 9, 2012

The High Court on Monday acquitted Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of the charge of sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.

Justice Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah said that after going through the evidence, the court could not be 100% certain the integrity of the DNA samples was not compromised.

“I find that it’s not safe to rely on the DNA evidence. As such, the court is left only with Saiful’s testimony.

"As this is a sexual crime, the court is reluctant to convict based entirely on Saiful’s testimony, which is uncorroborated,”

he added.
