KOTA KINABALU: A 14-year-old schoolgirl paid a hefty price for playing truant and taking part in a drinking session with some friends she ended up being raped.
The Form Two student of SMK Apin-Apin in the Keningau district, some 160km from the city, had decided to skip school with three other girls and a male student on Friday.
Keningau district police chief Deputy Supt Zahari Mohamad said the group went to an empty house in a village near their school and began taking alcoholic drinks.
At about 4pm, two of the students decided to leave the place and left the other girls who were fast asleep behind.
“When they left, the drunk male student raped one of the girls,” DSP Zahari said.
The teenager suffered injuries to her mouth, right arm and left leg and was referred to the Keningau Hospital.
She was later transferred to the Likas Hospital in the city.
DSP Zahari said she was reported to be stable but traumatised.
Police detained the 14-year-old schoolboy on the same day in Kampung Umpason, Jalan Apin-Apin, Keningau.
